A stump crusher is a type of crushing equipment designed for processing various tree roots, stumps, wooden blocks, and root burls. It is also referred to as a stump grinder or root crusher. This machine offers a fast and efficient solution for wood size reduction. The stump crusher features a compact structure, small footprint, and low power consumption for chipping. It is also suitable for mobile operations. Available models include 2600, 3000, and 3600. The machine can process large tree roots and trunks directly without the need for pre-treatment or sorting. It eliminates the requirement for a log splitter prior to crushing, as the stump crusher completes the entire size reduction process in a single pass. The processed material can be sent to biomass power plants for use as fuel, or further processed through a secondary small-scale crusher for other molding applications.

Working Principle

During operation of the disc stump crusher, the rotor is driven to rotate by an electric motor or diesel engine. At the same time, the feed hopper is also driven by the motor or diesel engine to rotate slowly. Material is fed into the hopper by a grab machine. As the inclined hopper rotates, the material-pulling teeth on its inner wall evenly distribute the material onto the rotor. When the high-speed rotating rotor comes into contact with the material, the cutting and tearing action of the blades on the rotor achieves preliminary crushing of the material. After preliminary crushing, the material falls onto the screen mesh inside the crushing chamber under the combined action of its own gravity and the impact force of the rotor. Material that meets the size requirements is discharged through the screen mesh, while material that does not meet the requirements undergoes secondary or even tertiary crushing inside the crushing chamber until it reaches the required fineness.
